Genesee Introduces Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale

The Original Cream Ale rolled out in new packaging and now has its first innovation: Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale

Rochester, NY –The Original Cream Ale will release its first flavor innovation under its new look: Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale. Developed over the last eight months with six test batches, Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale puts a new twist on the 14-time award winning Cream Ale that set the style standard in 1960 and has been a fan favorite ever since. Earlier this year, Cream Ale became its own brand with new modern packaging worthy of the tried and true beer inside. Genesee plans to continue to build on the beer’s momentum and growing popularity.

Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale

Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale, brewed with all-natural flavoring, will be available year-round across six markets! It took over eight months to find the perfect fruit duo to complement the beloved Cream Ale. After half a dozen test batches, Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale was created. The beer will be released on June 18 to a limited number of retailers, bars and restaurants across New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale has the flavor of an ale, the smoothness of a lager, and a refreshing lemon strawberry flavor.

“Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale is a delicious beer perfect for any outdoor occasion,” said Janine Schoos, Genesee brand director. “Building off the popularity of our lighthearted Ruby Red Kolsch, we decided to keep the fun going with this riff on Cream Ale. We love any opportunity to offer our fans exciting new flavor experiences.”

The Original Cream Ale

In 1960, The Original Cream Ale was created and brewed at the Genesee Brewery. Cream Ale introduced a new style to beer drinkers across the region. Brewmaster Clarence Geminn declared The Original Cream Ale “a winner.” In the nearly 60 years since, it’s lived up to that decree taking home 14 awards and receiving the title of official beer of New York State from Thrillist Magazine. Among its awards are two gold, five silver, and three bronze medals from the Great American Beer Festival and gold and silver medals at the World Beer Cup.

Having proven itself as a beer worthy of high praise, this American original is now launching to new beer drinkers thirsty for an authentic and delicious brew.

“Cream Ale is a unique beer style that has been here in the U.S. for over 50 years and built an extremely loyal fan base,” said Schoos. “We’re really proud to be an original in the U.S., with a recipe that hasn’t been changed since its conception. It’s time that The Original Cream Ale branches out past its core, so everyone can appreciate this unique, refreshing beer.”

The Original Cream Ale is relaunching now following its 2018 brewery modernization project. A $48.5 million brewery modernization has ensured that this hometown favorite beer is fresher than ever as it launches into new markets across the U.S.

With a rich history, a winning recipe and now the perfect packaging, The Original Cream Ale is ready to be discovered.
