Customer Favorite Labatt Brew House Beer Will be Available in
Limited Release Across WNY Starting 11/18
Buffalo, NY – Known for its Canadian heritage, Labatt USA moved its headquarters to Buffalo, its largest market, 12 years ago. Then, last year, Labatt USA opened its first U.S. innovation brewery here. Now for the first time, Labatt Beer will be canned in Buffalo, New York using a mobile canning line at the Labatt Brew House. The beer, named Year 1 to commemorate the first anniversary of the Labatt Brew House, is an imperial mango guava sour. A customer favorite throughout the summer, the beer will be released in limited quantity across Western New York starting on November 18. Those who want it sooner, can stop by the Labatt Brew House’s first anniversary party on November 15 where it will be served first.
“This beer is special because it was created and influenced by our most loyal fans,” said Rob Hertenstein, brand manager for Labatt. “The Labatt Brew House makes for the perfect real-time innovation center right here in our hometown, giving guests a chance to taste and provide feedback on each beer we brew. The imperial mango guava sour was a standout. Now, we’re excited to bring our first canned beer out of Buffalo to life across Western New York.”
About Year 1: Imperial Mango Guava Sour
One of the most popular beers brewed during the Brew House’s inaugural year, this mango guava sour will make its way into cans with even more flavor. Ryan Brady, Labatt Brew House Brewmaster, amped up the beer’s grain and fruit and added lactose to round out its body and mouthfeel.
“We wanted to make sure that our first can release was a beer that people really love, and we found that with Year 1,” said Brady. “We took this Imperial Mango Guava Sour, that our fans couldn’t get enough of on tap, and made it even better. It’s almost like a mango guava juice with very strong fruit aroma, a nice tart finish and just a hint of booziness.”
Year 1 will be packaged in 16-ounce cans on a mobile canning unit run by the local Iron Heart Canning company November 11 in the Labatt Brew House. The beer will be available in a limited quantity of four-packs at the Brew House and across local retailers starting November 18.
The First Anniversary Party
In addition to the release of Year 1, Labatt Brew House is celebrating its first anniversary with a party Friday, November 15. From 5-10 p.m., the Brew House and The Draft Room will welcome guests with live music, plenty of beer and tons of giveaways. Party guests can enjoy Year 1 as well as the new Labatt Brew House Birthday Cake Stout, brewed with a real birthday cake. The first 75 party guests will receive limited-edition glassware and cookies. Event giveaways will also include Buffalo Sabres tickets and a private party reservation in The Draft Room’s ransom room for a few lucky attendees.
