Seltzers are specially formulated to offer more flavor than competitors
A new, more flavorful seltzer will be test marketed in Buffalo, New York and select Northeastern markets. Labatt USA recently rolled out a new Labatt Blue Light Seltzer specially formulated to taste better than leading seltzers on the market. The seltzer will be piloted in select markets across the Northeast before rolling out to a wider distribution footprint later next year.
Labatt’s parent company, FIFCO USA is a leader in flavor innovation, producing 20% of all flavored malt beverages in the United States annually. For Labatt Blue Light Seltzer, the FIFCO brewing quality innovation team was inspired by consumer research that identified a ‘flavor gap’ in the current seltzer market. Using a proprietary triple filtration process, the team created a clean, smooth base free of any off-flavors or aromas. Next, the in-house team, tapped into years of experience working with some of the best flavor houses in the world, to create four custom flavor combinations that perfectly balance the sweetness of stone fruits with the refreshment of citrus.
“We saw an opportunity in the seltzer market. People love the low calories, low carbs and refreshment, but are looking for more taste with less bitter aftertaste. Labatt Blue Light Seltzer offers a surprisingly fruit forward aroma and taste that finishes light and refreshing,” said Jaime Polisoto, brand manager for Labatt. “It tastes less watered down and smoother than other hard seltzers.”
Labatt Blue Light Seltzer comes in a 12-pack variety pack, which includes four flavors: Black Cherry Lime, Tropical Grapefruit, Blood Orange Blackberry and Mango Lemon. Labatt Blue Light Seltzer clocks in at 5% percent alcohol by volume with only 100 calories and 1g carbs per can.
“With summer fast approaching, Labatt Blue Light Seltzer will become a go-to for Labatt fans and new consumers looking for something fresh and full of flavor in the warmer months,” said Polisoto.
