Genesee is Bringing Back Summer’s Most Popular Beer: Ruby Red Kolsch Returns

This Genesee Specialty Outsold All Others in Upstate NY During Summer 2020

Rochester, NY – The beer of summer is back – and it’s early. The Genesee Brewery is celebrating the return of brighter days with the return of Upstate New York’s favorite beer.

In summer 2020, Ruby Red Kolsch was the #1 best-selling beer in Buffalo and Rochester, growing three-times faster than the category.[1] Celebrated across upstate NY through social media and local media, this seasonal beer sells out every summer.

New this year, Ruby Red Kolsch officially joined the Genesee Specialty line, has a fresh new look with slightly updated packaging and will return to shelves earlier than ever before.

“We always get requests to make Ruby Red Kolsch a year-round offering, and while it’s still seasonal, we’ve extended the season this year with a very early release of this fan favorite,” said Inga Grote-Ebbs, Genesee brand director. “We want to celebrate warmer days with our most popular seasonal beer across Upstate New York.”

This Genesee Specialty beer is a refreshing Kölsch with a 21st century update of ruby red grapefruit flavors. The result is a crisp, bright-golden ale with a bready malt body and a mild hop bitterness that complement the perfect addition of tart, mouthwatering grapefruit flavors.

Ruby Red Kolsch will be available across Upstate New York starting this week in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans, featuring its familiar yellow packaging and the beer’s beloved mascot, Captain Kolsch. Fans can also enjoy Ruby Red Kolsch on draught at select locations.

“We are excited to bring Ruby Red Kolsch back to our favorite bars and restaurants across Upstate New York so Genny fans can enjoy the beer while safely supporting these small businesses,” said Grote-Ebbs.

Also available now is Genesee’s seasonal offering Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale. A fruity twist on the Genesee classic, Lemon Strawberry Cream Ale has the flavor of an ale, the smoothness of a lager, and a refreshing lemon strawberry flavor. Fans can find both beers near them with Genesee’s beer finder.
